#1-23 Oct., 1907 - The Pilot - Sarah Alma (Phillips) Brown

Mrs. Orville Brown died at her home on the farm about 4 1/2 miles northeast of Blair at 5 o’clock last Saturday morning after an illness of about two months’ duration. The funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Phillips in this city, Rev. F. Grant Hamm officiating. The large concourse present at the services shows the high esteem in which Mrs. Brown was held. Sarah Alma Phillips was born May 30, 1880, about eight miles northwest of town and was married to Orville Brown on Sept. 20th, 1897. Besides the husband she leaves one daughter, Ada, nine years old, father, mother, two brothers and three sisters. She had been a member of the Christian church since Feb. 13th, 1894, and met death in the firm belief in a glorious resurrection beyond the grave.

DEATH OF MRS. ORVILLE BROWN

The funeral of Mrs. Brown was held Tuesday, Oct. 21, at two o’clock p.m. at the home of her father, Stephen Phillips. A large number of friends gathered to pay their respects to the deceased. The services were conducted by F.G. Hamm, of the Church of Christ.

Sarah Alma Phillips was born May 30, 1880, about 8 miles north-west of Blair. Her parents moved to Blair the next year where she lived and went to school. She was married to Orville Brown, Sept. 26, 1907. She resided in Blair till about four years ago when she and family moved on to farm about 4 ½ miles north-east of Blair, where she succumbed to a protracted illness of over two months.

The husband, one daughter, Ada, nine years old, father, mother, two brothers, three sisters and a host of friends mourn her loss. She died Saturday morning at 5 o’clock, Oct. 19, 1907. About 40 teams followed the remains to the Blair cemetery where interment was made.
