JOHN R. ALLELY, M.D., 58

Services for John R. Allely, M.D., 58 of Elkhorn who died unexpectedly July 26, 1993, at Estes Park, Colorado were Saturday, July 31 at Trinity Church Interdenominational in Omaha. Rev. Elmer Murdoch officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Park at Omaha.

John Robert Allely was born August 19, 1934 at McCook, Nebraska to Dr. George F. and Elyda Kennedy Allely. He lived in Tekamah and graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln and the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in 1961.

He served an internship at Methodist Hospital in Omaha in 1961-1962. From 1962 until 1968, he was a family practice physician in Omaha. He took his residency in anesthesiology at the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in Omaha in 1970.

He had affiliate positions at Methodist Hospital and Clarkson Hospital in Omaha. He had been chief of anesthesiology at Memorial Hospital of Dodge County since 1977.

He was a member of the American Medical Association, Nebraska Medical Association, the American Society of Anesthesiology and was president of Memorial Hospital of Dodge County medical staff in 1980.

He married Shirly Magill August 1, 1954 in Tekamah.

Among the boards on which he served were the boards of Nebraska Wesleyan University and St. Paul Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Genevieve “Genie;” a brother, Donald G. Allely, M.D. and his father, G.F. Allely, D.D.S.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; a daughter, Brenda of Elkhorn; a daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Roger Harris of Dallas, Texas; a son, Steven of Elkhorn; a daughter, Susan of Omaha; four grandchildren, Jonathan, Allison, Steven and John; his mother, Elyda Allely of Tekamah; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Magill of Blair and a sister and brother-in-law, Dr. K.C. and Carol Bagby of Blair.

Memorials may go the Memorial Hospital of Dodge County.

Crosby-Kunold-Burket-Swanson-Golden Funeral Chapels in Omaha was in charge of arrangements.
