The sad news of the death of Mr. and Mrs. James Broderson’s little daughter, which occurred Friday Jan. 12, reached us this week. Mr. and Mrs. Broderson live in Grant township and the family are having a severe siege of scarlet fever. The little girl was three and one-half years old and a bright and loveable child, the only girl in a family of three boys. The dread disease affected her heart and she passed away very suddenly. The family have the sympathy of the entire community in their sorrow.

Enterprise, January 18, 1923

The three and one-half year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Broderson died suddenly Friday night of scarlet fever. She was sick but forty-eight hours, the disease affecting her heart. Funeral services were held at the New England cemetery Saturday afternoon where she was laid to rest. The family have the sympathy of all in their sorrow. The little one was the only girl and leaves besides her parents, three brothers to mourn her.

Harriet Ruth, the three-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Broderson died Friday of scarlet fever. She leaves to mourn her loss, her father, mother and four brothers. Interment was made in the New England cemetery Saturday afternoon, Rev. Kesterson held short services. Music was furnished by Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Ackerman and Mr. Bovee and Fred Robertson.
