Clarence Kraft

Clarence “Dutch” Kraft, 73, of Mapleton, Iowa, died May 10, 1987, in an Omaha hospital after a long illness.

Services were held Wednesday, May 13, 1987, at Mary’s Episcopal Church in Mapleton with Monsignor A.W. Behrens officiating.

Burial was in the St. Mary’s Cemetery. A rosary was recited Tuesday, May 12, 1987, at the Walter Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Kraft was born April 29, 1914, to George and Cynthia (Revel) Kraft in Mapleton and was raised there.

He married Leona Hamman January 21, 1936, in Mapleton, and the couple farmed in the Charter Oak-Ute, Iowa area for 25 years.

They moved to Mapleton in 1964, where he was a soil technician for the Soil Conversation Service in Ida County, Iowa, until 1986.

Kraft was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Kenneth, and two brothers.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Terry of Des Moines, two daughters, Mrs. Jim (Elaine) Jones of Urbandale, Iowa, and Mrs. Jim (Sue) Villebro of Arlington; two brothers, Frank of Mapleton, and Gerald of Hayward, California; three sisters, Mrs. Thelma Christiansen of Iowa City; Mrs. Harriet Johnson of Sparks, Nevada, and Mrs. Clifford (Adeline) Drenkhahn of Mapleton; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
