JOSEPH SUTHERLAND BURIED AT GRANT FRIDAY MORNING

Joseph Kyle Sutherland, age 11, met with a fatal accident on Saturday, November 14th at Grant, Nebraska, when he fell from a flatbed trailer while helping with some work at the Perkins County Fair Grounds. He had been assigned the job to undo a Halloween prank.

He and four other youths were riding on the trailer loaded with 7000 lbs. of bricks. Joe was at the front of the trailer when it hit a rough spot and he fell off, and the trailer ran over him. He was rushed to the Perkins County Hospital where he died a half hour later. His family was at his bedside.

Joe is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John (Burley) Sutherland who have lived in Grant since 1973, where Mr. Sutherland is employed by the Central Nebraska Telephone Co. He was born June 29th, 1964 in Blair and was in the sixth grade in Grant.

Survivors besides his parents are two sisters, Mrs. Pat Edwards (Roxanne) of Blair, and Robin Euding; and three brothers, Tim of Omaha; and Bill and Mark at home in Grant.

Funeral services were postponed until Friday because of a severe snow storm on Wednesday. They were held at the Grand United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. Burial was in the Grant Cemetery.

Pallbearers were six of his classmates in the sixth grade at Grant.
