Mrs. Abram Sutherland, who has been seriously ill at her home for several weeks with a severe attack of pneumonia, died at 10 o’clock Wednesday evening, March 13, at the age of 62 years, 3 months and 6 days. While for the past couple of weeks her death was not entirely unlooked for, yet it caused a feeling of gloom over the many friends of the family, who have made Washington County their home since 1868. Sarah Elizabeth Reynolds was born at Bedford Lawrence county, Indiana, December 7, 1844, and was married to Abram Sutherland on April 12, 1868, and came to Nebraska the same months, locating on their homestead four miles west of the city, where they remained until November, 1903, when they moved to Blair.

Eight children were born to this union, five of whom, with a devoted husband, are left to mourn the loss of a loving and devoted wife and mother - - C.W. Sutherland of Oklahoma, Mrs. J.P. Mullen and the Misses Aimee and Lynn Sutherland. The deceased was a pioneer to Washington County and an active member of the W.R.C. and leaves a wide circle of friends whose sympathy goes out to the bereaved family and who with them mourn an incomparable loss.

The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at two o’clock at the residence, where Rev. G. L. Conley officiated and where many admirers paid their last respects to a departed friend. After suffering a number of weeks from pneumonia, Mrs. Abraham Sutherland passed away last Wednesday evening at 10 o’clock, and the funeral was held Saturday afternoon at two o’clock. Deceased was born in Bedford, Indiana, December 7, 1844, and was married to A. Sutherland in 1868, accompanying him to Washington County, Nebraska, the same month and settling on a homestead about four miles west of this city. She was the mother of eight children, five of whom besides the husband are left to mourn her death.

#3—from the Blair Courier, March 20, 1907 After a brave struggle of about eight weeks with double pneumonia death came to Mrs. A. Sutherland at about 10 o’clock last Wednesday evening and her suffering was over. The funeral was held at the home on west Washington street at 2:30 Saturday afternoon. Rev. G. L. Conley, of the Baptist church, officiating. Delegations from the G.A.R. and W.R.C. attended in a body, the latter order taking part in the service. Sarah Elizabeth Reynolds was born in Bedford, Ind., Dec. 7th, 1844, and was married to Abraham Sutherland April 12, 1868. They came west to seek fortune and for many years found both prosperity and happiness on a fine farm located about four miles west of Blair. About four years ago they moved to this city. The husband and five children, C.W. Sutherland, of Shawnee, Mrs. Frank Gray, Mrs. Jas. Mullen, Aimee and Lynn Sutherland, remain to mourn the loss of a kind and loving wife and mother.
