PIONEER IS DEAD AT 91

WILLIAM SUTHERLAND, FORMER COUNTIAN, SUCCUMBS AT TEKAMAH

William Sutherland, 91, a Washington County pioneer farmer who moved to Tekamah, about ten years ago, died Monday afternoon at his home there. “Uncle Bill,” as he was known to hundreds, had been in poor health about six weeks.

Funeral services were held at Tekamah yesterday afternoon.

Mr. Sutherland’s wife died many years ago. Among survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Roy Anderson and Mrs. Laura Bennett, both of Tekamah; and a brother, Val Sutherland of Indiana.

SUTHERLAND BURIED HERE

FORMER BLAIRITE, 91, DIED AT HIS TEKAMAH HOME LAST WEEK

Funeral services for William Sutherland, 91, former Blairite who died November 24 at Tekamah, were held last Wednesday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Roy Anderson, near Tekamah. The Rev. C. R. Tanner conducted Methodist services, and burial was in Blair Cemetery.

William Sutherland, son of William and Malinda Sutherland, was born at Waymansville, Indiana, March 2, 1850. He was married to Elizabeth Waggoner March 22, 1877. Mrs. Sutherland died 42 years ago, and in 1905, Mr. Sutherland came to Nebraska, farming near Blair for about 14 years before going to Tekamah.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Roy Anderson and Mrs. Laura Bennett, both of Tekamah; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

WM. SUTHERLAND DIED AT 91 YEARS

William Sutherland passed away November 24th at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Roy Anderson of near Tekamah. Deceased was born in Indiana on March 2, 1850 and came to this county in 1905.

Two daughters, Mrs. Laura Bennett and Mrs. Roy Anderson were both very helpful to him after the death of his wife forty-two years ago.

Deceased was a man of admirable character and those who knew him held him in the highest esteem.

Funeral services were held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Anderson on Wednesday afternoon and interment under the supervision of the Truhlsen Undertakers of Herman. Burial was made in the Blair Cemetery.
