William Short, 50, Dies In Accident At His Home In Norfolk

William B. Short, about 50, former Blairite, accidentally shot and killed himself Monday night while cleaning a .32-calibre pistol at his home in Norfolk. The bullet struck him in the left side near the heart, County Attorney Mapes announced following an investigation.

Mrs. Short was seated in the same room sewing at the time. A doctor summoned to the home said Short died instantly.

Short had been a resident of Norfolk a number of years. For about 12 years he was a brakeman on the North Western railway.

He is survived by his wife and one son, Robert, a cadet in the U.S. military academy at West Point. Funeral services will be conducted at Winner, South Dakota.
