Elizabeth Delight Jones, 90

Elizabeth Delight Jones passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2015. She was born on July 9, 1924 to Leon and Daisy Horton of Churdan, Iowa.

She graduated from Pulaski High School, Pulaski, Iowa and Greenville College, Greenville, Illinois. She taught in the rural schools of Davis County, Iowa, in the elementary school of Plover and Lester, Iowa before teaching Mathematics in Central High School, LeMars, Iowa for six years.

Elizabeth became a Christian at the age of eleven so Christ and the church have been an important partof her life. She was active in Christian Women’s Club, United Methodist Women holding many local and district offices, and taught Sunday school on a regular basis.

On June 7, 1956, Elizabeth Horton and Harlan Kruger were united in marriage in LeMars, Iowa. They raised a son, Gary and daughter, Gayle on the family farm west of Herman, Nebraska until 1990. On July 9, 1997, Elizabeth married Everitt H. Jones and they made their home in Lakeland, FL. They enjoyed several camping trips in the nearly 17 years before his death, March 23, 2014.

Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her first husband, Harlan in 1991; her parents, son, Jay Marlin and three brothers, Renn, Elmer and George Horton, a sister Ruth Horton and her second husband, Everitt Jones.

Survivors include a son, Gary, and his wife, Becky of Herman, NE; a daughter, Gayle, and her husband Jeff Hansen of Greencastle, IN; three stepchildren: John Jones, Julie Jones and Janice Summerlin of Lakeland, FL; and eight grandchildren.
