Ernest J. Kroeger, 86

Former Omaha resident Ernest J. Kroeger, 86, of Longmont, Colo. died May 15, 2003, at Longmont United Hospital.

Graveside services were May 19 at Mount Hope Cemetery in Omaha. Interment was in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Ernest J. Kroeger was born Dec. 3, 1916, in Bennington to Peter and Margretha (Sass) Kroeger. With the exception of the last three years in Longmont, he lived in Omaha all his life.

On Aug. 30, 1940, he married Alice Hansen in Omaha.

Mr. Kroeger was the owner and operator for Northwest Grain and Feed. He sold his business and retired in 1974.

He was a member of Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church in Omaha, a Mason at the Masonic Lodge in Benson, and was a charter member of the Irvington Volunteer Fire Department. He loved hunting and fishing.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Janet I. and Larry Kilgore of Longmont; a grandson and his spouse; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice in 1982.

Memorials are suggested to Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church or the Irvington Volunteer Fire Department.
