Services Held on Tuesday for W. Kroeger

Funeral services were Tuesday, February 8, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bennington for William Kroeger, 85, of Bennington, who died at Immanuel Hospital February 5, 1983.

The Rev, Norman E. Schroeder conducted the services. Burial was in the German Cemetery.

Peter William Kroeger, known as Bill Kroeger, was born December 16, 1897, on a farm in rural Douglas County to Peter and Margaretha Kroeger. He moved to Washington County with his family when he was about four year old and later moved to Bennington in 1922.

Working in agriculture all his life, farming, gardening and beekeeping were his main livelihood. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt, fish and trap.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister and two brothers in infancy.

He is survived by sisters, Emma Mueller of Bennington and Anna Schaecher of Omaha, and brothers, Herman and Ernest, both of Omaha, and Henry of Kennard, and nieces and nephews.

Joyce Johnson was vocalist, Miriam Sukraw was organist.

Casket bearers were Robert and Melvin Kroeger, Jon Fox, Herman Mordhorst, John Mueller and Barton Fleck.

Hadan – Golden Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
