H.C. Buttenschein, about 40, who had come to America from Scandinavia some five years earlier, was shot and killed while eating supper with his family. A shotgun blast was fired through the window, after which the assassin entered the home, pointed the gun at Mrs. Buttenschein and was about to fire at her when she began pushing the gun away. The murderer then fled. The entire area was aroused by the incident.

H.C. Buttenschen, about 40, a farmer west of Blair who had come to America from Scandinavia five years earlier, was shot and killed Monday evening while eating supper with his family. A shotgun blast was fired through the window after which the assassin entered the house, pointed the gun at Mrs. Buttenschen and was about to fire at her when she pushed the gun away. The murderer then fled.
