Burial will follow services in the Blair Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at Campbell Aman Funeral Home in Blair.

Meredith Joseph Kubie was born October 20, 1930, in Blair Nebraska. He attended Pleasant View Country School, north of Blair, through the eighth grade and graduated from Blair High School in 1948. One of his earliest jobs was at Harris Shoe Store, in Blair, where he worked as a teenager and into his early twenties.

Meredith attended Creighton University for a couple of years, with thoughts of studying medicine, but instead joined the U.S. Air Force in 1951. He completed basic training in Mountain Home, Idaho becoming a Private First Class and Senior Weapons Mechanic. He was at one time stationed in Africa. He left the military in 1954 and remained in close contact with four Air Force buddies throughout his life.

He joined United Airlines in 1956, starting off at the ticket office in downtown Omaha, and later transitioning to Eppley Airfield. His high standard for customer service and strong work ethic later earned him a promotion to the position of Director of Executive Services. He retired after 40 years of service. He loved telling stories of selling tickets and providing assistance to Omaha’s elite.

Meredith was an accomplished traveler and took many trips to Germany and the rest of Europe, repeatedly accompanying family members traveling for the first time. He was fluent in German and corresponded with friends he met during his travels. A self-taught computer user, Meredith had the latest systems and invested in learning new technology.

In retirement he continued to follow his passion for landscaping. He possessed extensive knowledge of plants and flowers and he was well known in Blair for his beautiful yard.

He is survived by siblings Reynold (Patty) Kubie, Vivienne Warrick, Isabelle (Gene) Thomas, and Richard Kubie, all of Blair. He is preceded in death by parents Ernest and Hermine Kubie, sister Harriett Lookofsky of Santa Monica, sister-in-law Mary Jo Kubie and brother-in-law Harland (Hap) Warrick.
