Everett E. Gibson, 91

Everett E. Gibson, age 91 of Missouri Valley, Iowa, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2015, at Longview Care Center in Missouri Valley, Iowa. Everett was born April 18, 1924 in Missouri Valley, Iowa to William Henry Gibson and Laura Catherine Rhoten. He completed the 10th grade at which time he joined the US Army and was in the 17th Airborne and 224th Medical Company. When he was discharged from the service, he married Pauline Ione Christensen on February 10, 1950. Everett “Curly” Gibson worked on the Chicago Northwestern Railroad as a signal maintainer for over 38 years. After retirement, he enjoyed helping out at the Rand Center as treasurer and delivering meals. Everett enjoyed camping, buying and selling antiques mostly railroad memorabilia, cooking and baking especially for the Christmas holidays. He enjoyed going to flea markets especially What Cheer, Iowa, Columbus and Fremont, Nebraska where he made many friends. He loved spending time with his family and showing his grandchildren his many projects that he worked on in the garage.

Everett was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Ronald Moore, son-in-law Dean Jenkins, brothers: William, Charles, Harold, Ernest and Truman, and grandson Barry Jenkins.

Everett is survived by his sons: Roger and Wanda of Blair, Nebraska, Jerry and Michelle of Missouri Valley, Iowa; daughter: Shirley Jenkins of Missouri Valley, Iowa; daughter-in-law: Cathy Moore of Missouri Valley, Iowa; sister: Thelma Barrier of Woodbine, Iowa; thirteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren, and many great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 13 at the funeral home. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery with military honors by the Julius F. Muller American Legion Post #337 of Missouri Valley.

The family would like to invite everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship at the Methodist Church after the committal service.
