Esther E. DeWanz, 89

Esther E. DeWanz, 89 years, of Fremont, NE, died Saturday, July 4, 2015, at Arbor Manor in Fremont and went to be with her Lord and Savior.

Esther was born June 13, 1926, to Paul and Emma (Nieburg) Lottman in Arlington, NE. She grew up on a farm east of Arlington and graduated from Arlington High School in 1944. She attended Midland Lutheran College and continued her education over the years. In 1956, she married Lynn DeWanz at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Elgin, IL. She was a teacher in Arlington for 8 years and moved to Elgin where she taught for 32 years. After Lynn passed away in 1998, she moved to Fremont. She enjoyed her church, quilting club, gardening and flowers.

She is survived by her step-daughters: Diane and husband, Bob Schwarzkopf of Poplar Grove, IL, Phillis and husband, Doug Heine of Chana, IL; sister-in-law, Marian Lottman of Fremont; 5 step-grandchildren, 10 step-great-grandchildren, 2 nephews, and many great-nieces and -nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Earl Lottman.

Funeral Service will be 10 A.M., Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont. The Rev. Dan Heuer will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday, July 10, 2015 from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will continue 1 hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Burial will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery north of Arlington.
