RECENT DEATHS OF LOCAL INTEREST

MRS. MARY FISCHER

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Fischer, 93, will be held this (Thursday) afternoon at two o’clock from St. John’s Lutheran Church at Bell Creek with Rev. W. W. Alexander officiating. The aged lady passed away Monday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Henry Gosker of Arlington, after an illness since Sunday.

Mrs. Fischer, the former Mary Albright, was the last of a pioneer group of four families who homesteaded in the Bell Creek comunity in 1863. She was born in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, Sept. 20, 1848, and came to America at the age of 15. Her marriage to Martin Fischer took place at Omaha on March 18, 1873. Her husband and a daughter preceded her in death in 1920.

Surviving to honor the memory of their pioneer mother are one son, Ernest Fischer, who lives on the old home place east of Hooper and Mrs. Henry Gosker of Arlington. Nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive.

Interment will take place in the Bell Creek church cemetery.

AGED COUNTIAN DIES SUDDENLY AT THE HENRY GOSKER HOME TUESDAY

Mrs. Mary Fischer, 93, who lived at 215 east Lincoln street until last autumn, died suddenly Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Gosker, in the Telbasta vicinity.

The body was brought to the Campbell Mortuary here. The funeral is being held at 2 p.m. today at St. John’s Lutheran church in the northwest part of the county, the Rev. W. W. Alexander of Hooper officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Born in Germany, Mrs. Fischer had resided in this county many years. Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Gosker; also a son, Ernest Fischer, Hooper. There are a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
