Duane F. Peterson, 77

Duane F. Peterson, 77, of Fremont, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at the A.J. Merrick Manor in Fremont.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Interment will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Vacoma Cemetery, north of Arlington.

Visitation began on Monday, but will also be held from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel.

Duane F. Peterson was born March 1, 1933, on a farm in rural Herman to Fred and Pauline (Gosker) Peterson. He grew up near Herman and graduated from Blair High School in 1951. He farmed until retiring in 1995 and moved to Fremont in the late '90s.

He was a member of the former St. John's Lutheran Church at Vacoma. He loved to watch the Omaha Lancers hockey.

He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Howard "Dick" and Betty Peterson of Herman; sister-in-law, Arlene Peterson of Blair; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ervin O., Merle, and Robert Peterson.

Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
