Dorothy I. Sukstorf age 98 of Fremont formerly Cedar Bluffs, NE passed away Tuesday June 30, 2015 at Nye Pointe in Fremont. She was born June 13, 1917 in Arlington, NE to Louis and Augusta (Brinkman) Melvard.

Dorothy grew up in Arlington, Malmo and Cedar Bluffs and graduated from Cedar Bluffs High School. She married John W. Sukstorf on June 15, 1936 in Omaha . They lived on the family farm near Cedar Bluffs from 1936-1979 when they came to Fremont. John died April 29, 2003.

She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Cedar Bluffs and was active in Dorcas Society, LWML, taught Sunday school and led the Jr. Choir. Dorothy was also active in the community, she was a 4 H leader and 50 year member of the Platteview Extension Club in Saunders County. Survivors include, her daughter, Kay Spencer of Cedar Bluffs; sister Evelyn "Dolly" Williams of Fremont; grandchildren, Chris Plies of Lincoln and Todd Emken of Cedar Bluffs; great grandchildren, Nichole Kruse (Jeremey) and Sara Plies and boyfriend Paul Bartunek all of Lincoln, John "Matt" Plies and Brandon Emken of Fremont and Todd "TJ" Emken of FL.

Preceded in death by her husband, infant daughter, Sandra Lea; brothers, Byron and Richard Melvard; sisters, Doris Karn and Donna Swanda; sons-in-law, Edwin Emken and Harley Spencer; and grandson-in-law, Rick Plies.

Funeral 11 Am Friday, July 3, 2015 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Cedar Bluffs, NE. The Rev. Mark Weber will officiate. Visitation on Thursday from7-8 PM at Moser Memorial Chapel in Cedar Bluffs. Visitation continues on Friday from 10-11 AM at the church.

Burial will be 2 PM Friday at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont, NE.
