Margaret A. Fitzgerald, 75

Margaret A. Fitzgerald, 75, of Fort Calhoun, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, in Blair.

A funeral Mass was held Monday, Jan. 17, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fort Calhoun. Interment was in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

Margaret Ann Burch was born Aug. 4, 1935, in Wichita, Kan., to William A. and Dorothy C. Burch.

She married John Fitzgerald on May 11, 1957, in Omaha.

Mrs. Fitzgerald was a registered nurse for many years and worked for Memorial Community Hospital in Blair and was a Washington County home health care nurse, also for the hospital. She had worked in the adult day care center at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair; worked as a safety nurse at Omaha Public Power District's Fort Calhoun Nuclear Power Station; and was an assistant for two local podiatrists.

She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fort Calhoun.

She is survived by her husband, John; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Kathryn of Kearney; William and Barbara of Jackson; Cmdr. John and Shannon of Virginia; daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine and Scott Metzger of Omaha; Mary Jeanne and William Ulmer of Gardner, Kan.; 10 grandchildren; brothers and sister-in-law, William and Donna Burch of Wichita, Kan., and Robert Burch of Denver, Colo.

She was preceded in death by an uncle, Robert Price and sister-in-law, Rexonna Burch.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested for the liturgical needs at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Calhoun, NE; sons and daughters-in-law Catherine and Scott Metzger, Omaha, Mary Jeanne and William Ulmer, Gardner, KS; brother and sister-in-law William and Donna Burch, Wichita, KS; brother Robert Burch, Denver, CO; 10 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Visitation Sunday from 3-8pm with Vigil Service at 7pm at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Ft. Calhoun, NE. Funeral Mass Monday at 10am also at St. John’s. Interment Ft. Calhoun Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorials suggested to the Liturgical Needs of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
