Services Set For Arlington Woman’s Father

Funeral services are Thursday, September 2, in Lattin-Dugan-Chambers Funeral Home in Fremont for Joseph C. Strong, 62, of Fremont, who died August 30, 1982, in an Omaha hospital.

Elder John McLaughlin is officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery.

Joseph C. Strong was born November 9, 1919, in Hooper. He had lived in Fremont since 1950 and was a retired employee of George Hormel Co.

He served in the United States Navy and participated in nine major battles during World War II. He received the Bronze Star Medal for Valor, the Purple Heart Medal and one cluster. He was a member of Larson-Peterson VFW Post 20. He married Margaret Greenhalgh on September 16, 1942, in Fremont. She survives.

Other survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Richard K. (Melody) Flessner of Wahoo; Mrs. Glen (Marcia) Nixon of Thousand Oaks, California; Mrs. Alan D. (Joy) Christensen of Arlington; four sons: Charles W. Strong of Ivory Coast, West Africa; James H. Strong of Fremont; Jon J. Strong of Des Perse, Missouri; Joseph F. C. Strong of Thousand Oaks, California; four brothers: C. Clifford Strong, Harry W. Strong, Larry F. Strong, and James L. Strong, all of Fremont; five sisters: Mrs. Elvira F. Heller, Mrs. George (Loretta) Iverson, both of Fremont; Mrs. Jerry (Judy) Goad, Mrs. Ron (Dana) Sidorski, both of Puyallup, Washington; Mrs. Paul (Susan) Ortega of Tacoma, Washington; his stepmother, Mrs. Bernice Strong of Puyallup, Washington; ten grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
