Lenda Struve, 79

Services were Tuesday, April 12 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont for Lenda Struve, 79, of Fremont, who died early April 8 at Homestead Nursing Home in Lincoln, Nebraska. Rev. Craig Schultz officiated. Burial was in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

Lenda Struve was born June 24, 1909 on the family farm near Herman, where she grew up, to Henry and Anna (Giesselmann) Stork. She later moved to Blair to live.

She married Chris Struve on October 8, 1938 at her parents’ home near Herman. They lived in Blair where she operated the Struve Home Laundry until moving to Fremont in June, 1947.

In Fremont she operated a home laundry, was a Stanley Home Products dealer and was very active in the March of Dimes, Arthritis Foundation, American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society. She was also secretary of the local chapter of Aid Association for Lutherans for 30 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

She was hospitalized for a time in 1950 because of polio.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chris, who died in July, 1947 just after the couple moved to Fremont.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Marilynn) Vahle of Littleton, Colorado; and Mrs. Roger (Suzanne) Johnson of Lincoln. Seven grandchildren also survive her.

Memorials may be given to the Daily Chapel or to the donor’s choice.

Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont was in charge of arrangements.

Lenda Struve

Lenda Struve, 79, 340 E. Fourth St., died April 8, 1989, at Homestead Nursing Home in Lincoln.

Lenda Stork was born June 24, 1909, on the family farm near Herman. She grew up there.

She married Chris Struve Oct. 8, 1938, at her parents’ home near Herman. She and her husband lived in Blair, where she operated the Struve Home Laundry until moving to Fremont in 1947. Mr. Struve died in July 1947. She then operated a home laundry in Fremont.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, was a Stanley Home Products dealer, and was active in the March of Dimes, Arthritis Foundation, American Heart Association, and American Cancer Society. She was also secretary of the local chapter of Aid Association for Lutherans for 30 years.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Marilynn) Vahle of Littleton, Colo., and Mrs. Roger (Suzanne) Johnson of Lincoln; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Third and C streets. Visitation is in progress at Ludvigsen Mortuary. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery.

A memorial has been established to the Daily Chapel.
