Robert Stuart

Robert M. Stuart, 71 years of Council Bluffs, Iowa died at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha on Tuesday, June 10, 1986, after an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 13, at 11 a.m. , at the Cutler Chapel. Rev. Scott S. Rathman, Rector, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church will officiate. Burial will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Council Bluffs.

There will be a Masonic Service Thursday, 7:30 p.m., followed by visitation with the family until 8:30 p.m. Casket will be closed at the beginning of the service Friday.

Stuart was born November 10, 1914, the son of Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Stuart of Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Stuart retired in 1979 after 45 years and being a senior partner with Stuart, Tinley, Peters, Thorn, Smits, and Sens Law Firm. He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Council Bluffs.

He was a past exalted Ruler, Elks Lodge. He belonged to the Rotary, AEOUS, Lake Shore Country Club, Pottawattamie Co. Bar Ass’n, Iowa State and American Bar Association. He was director of Council Bluffs Savings Bank and Abstract Guarantee.

He and his wife Carolyn observed their 45th wedding anniversary, June 1, 1986.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Mrs. James (Susan) Ryan, Blair, and three grandchildren, Kelly, R.J. and Shannon, all of Blair, and his sister-in-law, Ethel Stuart, Council Bluffs.

Memorials may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association, the Masonic Temple Building Association, Shrine Children’s Burn Center or any charity.
