BARBARA J. ARONSON, 69

Washington County native Barbara J. Aronson, 69, of Overland Park, Kan., died Sunday, March 13, 2005, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.

Funeral services were Thursday, March 17, at McGilley & Hoge Chapel in Overland Park and Friday, March 18, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair. Interment was in the Blair Cemetery.

Barbara J. Aronson was born June 20, 1935, in rural Washington County to Otto and Lizzie (Christ) Mencke. She was the 13th child and the 12th daughter in the family.

She married Bill Aronson of Tekamah on June 3, 1961, at the First Methodist Church in Blair.

Known for an enduring sense of humor and her ability to make friends with anyone, she holds a special place in the hearts of many. Her strong sense of community and willingness to help led her throughout her life, to volunteer for many causes. She was a member of the I.O.F. Foresters, and served as treasurer of the Overland Branch for a number of years. She devoted thousands of hours of her time volunteering. Those who knew her will miss her sense of humor and dedication to service.

She is survived by her husband, Bill; son and daughter-in-law, William and Sue Aronson of Olathe, Kan.; daughter and son-in-law, Judith and Steve Hudnall of Overland Park; four grandchildren; three sisters, Helen Hineline and Opal Warrick of Blair, and Norma Rapp of Burley, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Don Mencke; and sisters, Gertrude Nelson, Emma Hartley, Sophie Hineline, Minnie Thaden, Pearl Anderson, Betty Brothers, Martha Cushman, and Dolores Kochner.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

ARONSON - Barbara J., Overland Park, KS, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2005, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.

Barbara was born June 20, 1935 in rural Washington County, NE, the 13th child (and 12th daughter) of Otto and Lizzie (Christ) Mencke. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother; and eight sisters.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Bill, of the home; a son, William and his wife, Sue, of Olathe, KS; a daughter, Judith Hudnall and husband, Steve, of Overland Park; four grandchildren: Jake and Aubrey Aronson and Kevin and Andy Hudnall; and three sisters, Helen Hineline and Opal Warrick of Blair, NE, and Norma Rapp of Burley, ID.

Barbara was a member of I.O.F. Foresters and served as Treasurer of the Overland Branch of some 30 years. She devoted thousands of hours to volunteer service over those years. Her dedication to serve, and her sense of humor will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 18, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair, NE, with visitation preceding the service from 10-11 a.m.

Interment will be at Blair Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society.
