JANE SUVERKRUBBE SUCCUMBS TO HEART ATTACK

Funeral services were held Wednesday morning for Jane Suverkrubbe, who passed away at her home last Sunday evening, July 21st, following an apparent heart attack. Services were held at the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church, Reverend Keith Sackett officiating, with burial in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery under the direction of Sievers Funeral Home.

Jane McMillan was born in Fort Calhoun on June 2, 1916 and she lived in Fort Calhoun her entire life. She graduated from Fort Calhoun High School in 1934.

In 1938 she married John Suverkrubbe, and they had two children, who still survive, Mrs. Gale (Gladys) Maine of Fort Calhoun and John, at home. Jane’s husband passed away several years ago. She is also survived by a brother, Neil McMillan of Blair, and a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Froehlich of Fort Calhoun, and three grandchildren.

Jane was well-known in Fort Calhoun. She was a postal clerk for 27 years, until her retirement in 1972, and she was City Clerk from 1953 to 1962. A member of the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church, she was once chairman of the Board of Deacons, and more recently Secretary-Treasurer. She belonged to Eastern Star and belonged to the Past Matrons. She also was a member of the Women’s Club and the UPWA.
