Funeral services for Russell Henry Suverkrubbe, of rural route Blair, were held on Wednesday, November 5th, at the Emmaus Lutheran Church in Kennard at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Schneck officiated with burial in the German Cemetery under the direction of the Campbell Funeral Home.

Mr. Suverkrubbe was born on July 5, 1918 at Irvington, Nebraska. He died at his home on Monday, November 3rd.

He lived with his parents, Henry and Emma Suverkrubbe near Irvington in his early years. On October 10th, 1940, he married Phyllis Anderson at the Grace Lutheran Church in Omaha. He and his wife had been farming in the Bennington and Blair area until he retired in 1985.

Russell was a Deacon and Trustee of the Emmaus Lutheran Church Board in Kennard and he served a number of years on the Maney School Board. He was also an active member of the Blair Eagles Club.

He attended Wranch School and graduated in May of 1933. He received a diploma in diesel mechanics from Wesleyan Diesel Service in 1937. He was a loyal and devoted husband and father and was never too busy to stop his work and help a friend.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce Suverkrubbe; Robert and Candy Suverkrubbe; and Steve and Sue Suverkrubbe, all of Blair; and daughter Susan Suverkrubbe, of Omaha. He also is survived by one sister, Grace Kahnk of rural Omaha. He also has six grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Tom Andersen, Lyle Kahnk, Larry Wulf, Irvin Kay, John Lorsch, Vernon Mathiesen and Clifford Staben.

Services for Russell H. Suverkrubbe, 68, who died November 3, 1986, at his residence in rural Blair, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Kennard. Rev. Robert Schneck will officiate and burial will be in the German Cemetery in Bennington.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce, Bob and Candy, and Steve and Sue, all of Blair; one daughter, Susan of Omaha; six grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Louie (Grace) Kahnk of Omaha.

Memorials may be given to the church or to the American Cancer Society.

Campbell Funeral Home of Blair is in charge of arrangements.
