Nels Svendgaard Services Were Held On Sunday

Services for Nels M. Svendgard, 69, were held Sunday, 2 p.m. at the Arlington Congregational Church, with Rev. Leo Zillig officiating. He died Thursday night at Dodge County Community Hospital Annex.

Mr. Svendgard was born near Blair May 13, 1896, and had lived in the Arlington community most of his life. He retired from the Arlington Telephone Co. in 1960.

He was married on Aug. 13, 1919 to Emma Thielfoldt, who survives.

Other survivors include daughters, Mrs. Sterling Plugge, of Arlington; Mrs. Curtis Behrendt of Herman; brother, Andrew of Blair; sisters, Mrs. Peter Stricklett and Mrs. Roy Follen of Blair, Mrs. Lloyd Brown of Arlington and Mrs. Carl Andersen of Burbank, Calif.

A memorial fund has been established for the Arlington Congregational Church.

Burial was in the Arlington Cemetery.

Reckmeyer Funeral Home in Arlington was in charge of arrangements.

Casket bearers were, George Franks, Leonard Thompson, Grover Wilkins, Ralph Motley, Ralph Hayne and Fred Klug.

Note: although the newspaper spelled his name with two a’s, the tombstone has only one a.
