OMA PHILLIPS SVENDGARD, 92

Services for Oma Phillips Svendgard, 92, of Blair were held Monday, March 11, 1996, at First United Methodist Church in Blair. Burial was held in the Blair Cemetery. She died Friday, March 8 at Crowell Memorial Home.

Oma Phillips Svendgard was born Oct. 12, 1903 at Marion, Ill., to Charles and Nancy (Harris) Ruffing. She graduated from Benton High School in Illinois.

She married William Sherman Phillips in 1922. He preceded her in death in 1950. In 1960, she married Andrew Svendgard who died in 1979.

She worked for Klopp’s Jewelry in Blair.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church (50 years); United Methodist Women; Eastern Star (past Worthy Matron); Hospital Auxiliary; and had served as a Democratic Committee Women.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; son Donald and brother Earl Ruffing.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Ellen Phillips of Town and Country, Mo.; stepchildren, Betty Stoetzel of Hastings; Judy Lum of West Covina, Calif.; Jim Svendgard of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and Andy Svendgard of Arlington; and brother Ray Ruffing of Boynton Beach, Fla.

Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
