FARMER AT KENNARD TAKES OWN LIFE SATURDAY, JAN. 9

Despondency Over Ill Health Thought to be Motive

Alfred William Svogersen, farmer living near Kennard, committed suicide last Saturday morning by shooting himself. He had been in poor health for some time, and despondency over his condition no doubt prompted the act.

Deceased was born near Kennard February 20th, 1894, and was thus 42 years, 10 months and 19 days old at his death. He was reared in the Kennard vicinity, and on February 23, 1916 he was married to Amanda Tietjen of Bennington, and they immediately moved on the farm where they have since resided. One child, a daughter, was born to them.

He leaves to mourn his untimely departure his widow, Amanda Svogerson, and daughter, Christine, and his father, Hans Svogerson, one Sister Alma and one brother Harry all of Kennard, besides a host of friends. One brother and one sister died in infancy, and his mother, Mrs. Svogerson passed away in 1923.

Funeral services were held at the Kennard Lutheran church on Tuesday, January 12, Rev. James N. Lund of Blair officiating, and interment was made in the Kennard cemetery.
