SERVICES HELD FOR FORMER KENNARD MAN

Funeral services were at the Thurston Presbyterian Church for Carl O. Swanson, 77, Winnebago, a former Thurston County commissioner.

Rev. Wallace Smith officiated with burial in Omaha Valley Cemetery at Homer.

Mr. Swanson was born October 18, 1903 at Kennard and died in a Pender hospital after an extended illness.

On February 16, 1937, he married Lula Jasa at Council Bluffs, Iowa. He farmed in the Thurston and Winnebago area for 50 years.

He belonged to the Pender hospital board; Winnebago school board; Presbyterian Church board; Masonic Lodge; and was a past member of the Agricultural stabilization and Conservation Service Board.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Harold of Thurston and Dale of Winnebago; one daughter, Mrs. Clayton (Carol) Lofgren of West Point; a niece, Mrs. Paul (Jean) Bodlak of Thurston; a nephew, John Sanders of Lake Park, Minnesota; both of whom he reared; four brothers, Albert of Kennard; Harry of Blair; Elmer of Thurston; and Leonard of Memphis, Tennessee; two sisters, Mrs. Ellen Isham of Blair and Alma Widner of Tekamah; 12 grandchildren.
