RITES FOR HENRY ARP, 77, WERE HELD SUNDAY

Retired Farmer Had Lived In This Vicinity Since 1883

Henry Arp, retired farmer living in Blair, passed away last Friday at the age of seventy seven years. Had he lived until July 16th, he would have reached his seventy eighth birthday.

Deceased was born in Germany, and at the age of fifteen years came to America. When he first came here he worked for George Ohrt near Bennington.

On November 1st, 1889 he was married to Miss Meta Misfeldt, and the widow and five children survive and mourn their great loss. The children are Fritz of Spiker; Henry an Otto of Kennard; Mrs. Louis (Emma) Dornacker of Kennard; and Mrs. Albert (Belva) Kuhr of Blair. Three children preceded him in death.

Henry Arp was a good citizen. He was a successful farmer, and for fifteen years resided on a farm just south of Kennard. He was also in business in Bennington for six years where he handled implements and made a wide acquaintanceship.

For a long term of years he was also a member of his local school board, and filled the position with sincerity and excellent judgement.

His death did not come unexpectedly as he had been in poor health for some time, and had been under a physician’s care.

Besides his wife and children, he leaves eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild. (Two grandchildren are in the armed forces).

Funeral services were held last Sunday from the local Methodist church with Rev. Sidney L. McCaig officiating. Interment was made in the German cemetery in the southern part of the county.
