LELA LOVE, 87

Services for Lela Love, age 87 of Blair, who died December 13, 1993 at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair will be 1 p.m.Thursday, December 16 at the First Baptist Church in Blair. Burial will be at the Blair Cemetery.

Lela Mae Love was born December 19, 1905 in Tabor, Iowa to Clyde and Ethel Estes Burger. She graduated from Blair High School and attended Peru State Teacher College. She taught at the Long Creek School.

On August 30, 1930 she married J. Ross Love in Jefferson County, Iowa. They lived on the family homestead five miles west of Blair on Highway 91, until moving to Blair in 1987.

Lela enjoyed making crafts and always had exhibits at the County Fair. She also enjoyed working with children. One of her favorite pastimes was making taffy and she became known as the Taffy Lady.

She was a member of the Grange; Papio Merrymakers; Thursday Afternoon Club; and Farm Bureau.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two sisters, Reatha Rogers, Mildred Beck, and a brother, Marshall Burger.

Surviving her are her husband, J.Ross of Blair; daughters and son-in-laws, Gwen and Edward Smith of Tucson, Arizona; and Norma and Art Becker of Missouri City, Texas; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Helen Kepler and Wilma Melton, both of Ft. Dodge, Iowa.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
