Jensen, Paul S. Paul Jensen of Omaha, NE, entered into eternal rest on July 27, 2015 after a heroic battle with myelodysplastic syndrome and kidney disease.

Paul was born August 25, 1946 in Portland, ME, the third of four sons of Robert E. and Vivian E. (Stuart) Jensen. Paul grew up in Westbrook, ME where he enjoyed an idyllic childhood. Summers were spent with his brothers, Robert, Jr., Wayne, and Jonathan, swimming and boating at the family "camp" on Sebago Lake and winters were spent skiing, tobogganing and having snowball fights with the neighborhood kids.

Paul attended Dr. Hill's Junior Primary School, Bridge Street School and graduated from Westbrook High School with the class of 1964. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Westbrook and was a lifelong Lutheran.

In 1964, on the advice of his Pastor, Paul made his way to Nebraska and entered Dana College in Blair as a freshman. It was at Dana that he met his wife Beth under the mistletoe at a Christmas open house in December 1966. Paul graduated from Dana in May 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and sociology. He and Beth were married on February 8, 1969 at Zion Lutheran Church in Albion, NE.

Paul began his career in the financial services industry in 1973 as a District Sales Representative with Aetna Life and Casualty Company in Omaha. During his 11-year career with Aetna, he earned his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designations. In 1984, he joined Mutual of Omaha as a Regional Sales Director for the Southeast United States region. During his 18-year career with Mutual, he earned a number of awards and honors. In his capacity as Assistant Vice President for Association Marketing, Paul was instrumental in bringing to Mutual the largest Association in the United States at that time, the National Association of Realtors. In 2002, Paul joined Farm Bureau Financial Services as a Life and Investment Specialist. He continued to serve his clients until his health forced him to retire from Farm Bureau in July 2015.

Paul's first passion was serving his Lord through his work at Messiah Lutheran Church. He served on numerous committees including chairing the pastoral call committee and chairing the building committee for the renovation of the sanctuary. With his wife and a host of volunteers, he spearheaded a golf tournament, now in its 14th year, which raises funds to support Messiah's Sudanese ministry.

Paul's second passion was providing his customers and their families with the most cost-effective and sensible financial programs available to fit their needs. He counseled his nieces and nephews on financial planning right up until a week before his death.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; brother Robert, Jr.; and in-laws, Frank F. and Myrna Ahrens.

In addition to his wife of 46 years, Beth, Paul is survived by brother Wayne S. (Sue) of Cape Coral, FL; brother Jonathan A. (Polly) of Gorham, ME; brother-in-law Frank F. (Cindy) of Stromsburg, NE and brother-in-law Byron L. (Nina) of Pasadena, TX; 10 nieces and nephews and 19 great nieces and nephews.

MEMORIAL VISITATION with the family will be at John A. Gentleman Mortuaries Pacific Street Chapel on Friday from 5-8pm. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church on Saturday at 12:30pm. A celebration of Paul's life will follow the service at Oak Hills Country Club, 12325 Golfing Green Drive, Omaha. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Messiah Lutheran Church, 5015 South 80th Street, Omaha, 68127 or The Nebraska Kidney Association, 11725 Arbor Street #230, Omaha, 68144.

2 Timothy 4:7-8: I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge will award to me on that day.
