Robert Harold Bourn, 71

Robert Harold Bourn, 71, died Tuesday, August 4, 2015, at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, NE. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 10, 10:30 a.m. at Herman Community Church in Herman, NE. Family will receive visitors an hour prior to the service. Burial services will be Tuesday, August 11, 11:00 a.m. at L’eau Qui Court Cemetery in Niobrara NE with visitation at Brockhaus Funeral home in Niobrara from 9:00-10:30 a.m.

Robert was born October 21, 1943, to Harvey and Christine (Juracek) Bourn. He grew up on the Bourn farm at the base of the Niobrara River. He graduated from Niobrara High School in May of 1962. On April 17, 1965, he married the love of his life, Merriellen (Ferguson) in Yankton, SD. He served in the U.S. Army from 1966-1968. After an honorable discharge, Robert and Merriellen returned to Nebraska. He pulled mobile homes for many years and was a custodian/bus driver for Neligh-Oakdale schools. His passion was being an over the road truck driver. He drove over 2 million miles for Hunt Transportation in Omaha. He retired from trucking in 2012.

He was a member of the Herman Community Church and the American Legion in Herman.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Harvey Ray and Kenneth.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Merriellen; two daughters and sons-in-law: Jennifer and Rick Chapin of Logan, IA, and Mary and Frank Weiglein of Pasco, WA; granddaughter Hailee Weiglein and great-granddaughter Madalyn Weiglein, both from Pasco; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Jim and Mary of Ewing, NE, and Donley and Donna of Ponca, NE; sister-in-law Lonna Bourn of Lakeworth, FL; brother-in-law Parker Ferguson of Gold Canyon, AZ, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
