Arvid E. Olson, 91, of West Point, died July 8, 2002, at the West Point Living Center.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m.Friday, July 12, at Grace Lutheran Church in West PoInt with Vicar Ned Dorau officiating. Interment will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery at West Point.

Visitation began Thursday at Stalp Funeral Home, and will also be held one hour prior to services at the church.

Arvid E. Olson was born July 9, 1910, on the family farm east of West Point to immigrant parents Andrew and Emma (Erickson) Olson. He attended District No. 14 school.

He was baptized and confirmed at Westside Methodist Church in rural Oakland.

On May 29, 1941, he married Roberta E. Fenske in Omaha. Mr. Olson was first involved with farming with his father and brothers. He continued farming until his health prevented it.

He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in West Point, and served for many years as secretary for District No. 14 School Board.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Marlene and Richard Mullins of Arlington, and Ramona and Dan Nebuda of Columbus; sons and daughters-in-law, Marvin and DeAnne Olson of Shalimer, Fla., Larry and Barbara Olson of Kansas City, Mo, Glen and Sally Olson, and Allan and Renee Olson, all of Oakland; sisters, Alice Olson of Fremont, and Marion Anderson of Oakland; brothers, Leland Olson of Fremont and Leslie Olson of Oakland; 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, a sister, Frances Nissen, and brother, Florin Olson.

Memorials are suggested to Grace Lutheran Church.

Stalp Funeral Home in West Point is in charge of arrangements.
