SERVICES FOR CHLOE COX HELD TUESDAY

Funeral services were held at Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home in Fort Calhoun on Tuesday, January 14, 1980, for Chloe Cox, who passed away on January 12th at Good Shepherd Home in Blair. Pastor Don Lowell officiated and interment was made at Rose Hill Cemetery in Missouri Valley, Iowa. Pallbearers were Harry Lund, Otis Hawkins, Les Wilt, Clarence Doty, William Burmeister, and Mike Szlachetka, Sr.

Chloe Verda Beckley was born to James and Mattie Beckley on January 12, 1891 at Weeping Water, Nebraska. She spent her childhood at Tilden, Nebraska and Missouri Valley, Iowa. On January 4, 1910 she was untied in marriage to Bruce Robert Cox at Blair, Nebraska. To this union were born three children; Irene (Mrs. Gus Kruse), Nelle (Mrs. Richard Larsen), and Billie.

Bruce and Chloe moved to Fort Calhoun in 1912 where they spent the rest of their lived farming, until they retired in 1954. She was preceded in death by her son, Billie, in 1959, and her husband, Bruce in 1963.

In November of 1973 Chloe entered Good Shepherd Home where she remained until her death. She is survived by her two daughters, Irene and Nelle, and ten grandchildren; Dan Kruse, Bruce Larsen, Kim Cox, Roxanne Forsythe, Robin Kane, Johnny Bill Cox, and Sharon Kay Flott, all of Omaha; Terry Larsen, Bryan, Texas; Darlene Knieriem, Cerritos, California; Don Kruse, Oklahoma City. Seventeen great-grandchildren also survive.

Mrs. Cox was a member of the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church and Women’s Association, and a 50-year member of Naomi Chapter 121 Order of Eastern Star, and Fort Calhoun Woman’s Club.
