Services for Donald P. Coyle Sr., 79 of Mead who died March, 11, 1991 at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha were Friday, March 15 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wahoo, Rev. Michael Christensen officiated.

Military graveside rites were conducted by the American Legion Post No. 82 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3502 of Wahoo. Burial was at St. Francis Cemetery in Wahoo.

Donald P. Coyle was born August 18, 1911 in Rapid City, South Dakota. He served with the United States Army during World War II.

In 1947, he moved to Mead. He was the owner-operator of Coyle’s Market until retiring in 1982.

He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 373 at Ralston, a former member of the Mead Volunteer Fire Department, had served on the Mead village board and was former Mead mayor.

He married Genevieve Towey September 8, 1934 in Red Oak, Iowa. She preceded him in death February 1, 1975.

He was also preceded in death by a son, a daughter, a sister and three brothers.

He is survived by a son, John Coyle of Lincoln; three daughters, Ailene Raver of Mead, Helen (Mrs. Larry) LaCroix and Kathy (Mrs. Edward) Cherovsky, all of Mead and Sue Versch of Omaha; a brother, John Coyle of Blair; a sister, Catherine Hord of Arcadia, California; 20 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Svoboda Funeral Home in Wahoo was in charge of arrangements.
