Anita H. Johnson, 80

Anita H. Johnson, 80, of Blair, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, at the First Lutheran Church in Blair. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Anita Helen Paulsen was born July 5, 1918, in Omaha, to Fred and Selma (Rasmussen) Paulsen. She graduated from Bennington High School. She attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Regents Scholarship and graduated from Dana College.

She married Elmer Holstein. Mr. Holstein died in 1969. In November of 1974, she married Wallace “Wally” Johnson.

She had lived her entire life in the Bennington, Washington and Blair area. She taught school for 28 years in District 47, Dornacker, March and Washington Schools. She was a member of teachers’ organizations, a 50-year member of Royal Neighbors of America, Danish Brotherhood, Rebeccah Circle, Cozy Corner Club, Eagles, Legion Auxiliary, Tangier Shrine Auxiliary and First Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday school and 4-H. She loved playing the organ and piano. She was also a recipient of the Ak-Sar-Ben Good Neighbor Award.

She is survived by her husband, Wally; two daughters and son-in-law, Virginia and Lyle Nelson of Fremont and Nila and Don Nielsen of Omaha; a son and daughter-in-law, Curtis and Candy Holstein of Riverside, Calif.; grandchildren, Jodi Blick, Merritt Nelson, Dwight Nelson, Ben Holstein and Kristin Nielsen; great-grandson, Jackson Blick; three sisters, Frances Splittgerber of Bellevue, Fern Schneekloth of Fremont and Sylvia Brown of Blair.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Elmer Holstein; her parents and granddaughter, Lori Jo Nelson.

Memorials are suggested to First Lutheran Church or the donor’s favorite charity.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
