Wm. Craven died last Wednesday evening at 8 o’clock. Funeral takes place from the house this (Friday) morning at 9 o’clock.

Wm. Craven, who has lived south of town for the past forty years, died Wednesday evening after an illness of about two weeks. Mr. Craven has not enjoyed the best of health for the past twenty years, being a sufferer from stomach troubles. He came to Nebraska in about 1867 and homesteaded land which has since been his home. There were born in Mr. Craven’s family eleven children, ten of whom, with their mother, mourn his loss. The funeral was held, Friday and the body laid at rest in the Catholic Cemetery in Blair.

A PIONEER GONE

William Craven, Sr. died last Wednesday evening at 8:30 o’clock at his home five miles south of Blair in Richland township after an illness of three weeks, the cause of death being stomach trouble.

Mr. Craven had been in poor health for the past twenty five years and at times was a great sufferer.

Deceased was born in County Galway, Ireland August 16, 1837, and at the time of death was 71 years and one month old. He was married to Sarah J. Daly May 9th, 1860, eleven children being born to this union, ten of whom are still living, four girls and six boys, the wife and mother having passed away two years ago. The entire family and grandchildren were present at the funeral. The children are all married and the majority of them live in Omaha.

Mr. Craven came to Nebraska in 1867 and homesteaded the farm where he has lived for so many years. The funeral services were held from the Catholic church in Blair at 10:30 last Friday morning, Father O’Driscoll delivering a very impressive sermon. The remains were followed to the cemetery by a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends and neighbors who mourn with the family in its loss of a kind and loving parent and good neighbor.
