Frank J. Studeny Died Saturday, Services Tuesday

Funeral services for Frank Joseph Studeny, 1061 Lincoln St., who died Saturday, will be held Tuesday.

The services will be held at 10 a.m. at the Catholic Church at Verdigre, Nebr., Father Charles Oborny officiating, with interment in the Verdigre Catholic Cemetery.

Mr. Studeny, 85 years of age, was born March 23, 1879. He was a retired railroad employee. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Mr. Studeny is survived by his wife, Caroline; son, Adolph of Blair; daughters, Mrs. Lillian Schulz of Pascoe, Wash., and Mrs. Dorothy Gelster of West Point; brothers, John of Valentine and Fred of Verdigre; sisters, Mrs. Augusta Klemish of Sargent Bluffs, Ia.; Mrs. Louise Beran and Mrs. Mary Spurny, both of Verdigre.

Campbell Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Frank J. Studeny Buried May 12

Frank J. Studeny was born at Brezenic, Morovia, on March 23, 1879, and came to the United States with his parents in 1881 where they located at Morse Bluffs, Nebraska, later lived in Box Butte and Knox County.

In 1902 he married Antonette Maly. After three years of farming he established a Hardware Store in Verdigre, Nebraska, until he became a water pumper with the Northwestern Railway Co. From 1933 to 1938 they lived in Colome, South Dakota and then in West Point where he was a clerk with the railroad company. In 1942 they moved to Blair where he retired after 43 years of service.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Catholic Workmen over 50 years.

He died May 9th at the Blair Hospital. Rosary was recited Monday evening in Blair at the Campbell Mortuary by Father Patrick Nolan. Father C.J. Oborney officiated the Requiem High Mass and delivered the sermon at the Catholic Church in Verdigre. Burial was in the Verdigre Catholic Cemetery.

Survivors besides his wife, are a son Adolph of Blair; daughters: Mrs. Lillian Schulz of Pascoe, Washington and Mrs. Dorothy Gelster of West Point; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were George J. Vondracek, Sr., George Sukup, Henry Myer, Paul Sukup, Bud Jedlicka and Joe Sladek of Verdigre. ~~~~~Obituaries courtesy of the Washington County Genealogical Society. Newspaper clippings on file in the Public Library, Blair, Nebraska.~~~
