Services for Jens P. Krogh, 88 of Blair, who died June 2, 1991 at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 4 at the First Methodist Church, with Dr. Howard Bailey officiating. Burial will be at Blair Cemetery.

Jens P. Krogh was born May 9, 1903 in Voerladegard, Denmark to Peter and Maria Petersen Krogh. He attended school in Denmark and on March 8, 1923 he immigrated to the United States.

He kept a daily journal of his trip across the ocean on a ship called the Hellig Olae. He landed at Ellis Island on March 20, 1923.

He traveled to Duluth, Minnesota and on to Hibbing, Minnesota where he worked for a short time. He then came to Blair where he found work on a farm. In 1928 he went into farming on his own.

He married Minnie Brodersen in October, 1928. She preceded him in death in 1975.

After quitting farming, he purchased a small country store called the Spiker Store. He later brought a produce store in Kennard, Nebraska. After 11 years in Kennard he was forced to sell the business due to a bad back. He then worked at the Washington County Court House as a custodian and later as a bailiff.

On September 20, 1975 he married Rosa Skelback. She preceded him in death in 1986.

He is survived by two daughters, Joan (Mrs, Lloyd) Wright and Peggy (Mrs. Larry) Hipnar, both of Blair; five grandchildren, Debbie (Mrs. Mike) Tierney, Blair; Kenneth Wright, Omaha; Trisha (Mrs. Ed) Kosiski, Tonya (Mrs Rick) Bonge, all of Omaha and Todd Hipnar, Blair; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Hans of Denmark and one sister of Denmark.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
