Ray Krogh Died Thurs. of Heart Attack

Ray Krogh Has Been In Insurance Business Since 1935

Ray Krogh, 72 years of age, Blair businessman since 1935, died suddenly of a heart attack while playing golf at the Blair Country Club Friday afternoon about 5 o’clock.

Funeral services were held today (Monday) at the Congregational Church, the Rev. Clair Olney officiating, with interment in Blair Cemetery.

Mr. Krogh is survived by his wife, Leta; three daughters, Mrs. Robert Janssen (Dorothy) of Columbus, Mo., Mrs. Robert Shaw (Marian) of Riverside, Calif., and Mrs. Robert Hanson (Marjorie) of Tracy, Calif.; a son, Robert Krogh of Blair; a brother, Harvey Krogh of Blair; and six grandchildren.

Mr. Krogh became interested in automobiles as a young man and was one of Blair’s first mechanics. In 1906 he was offered a position with the Kimball Garage in Omaha and accepted. Later he became the personal chauffer of the late George Wattles family. Mr. Wattles was president of the Omaha Street Car Co. and the U. S. National Bank in Omaha. During the years he was employed by Mr. Wattles, Mr. Krogh serves as chauffer for governors, senators, top-ranking railroad officials and the late President and Mrs. Woodrow Wilson.

Mr. and Mrs. Krogh were married in 1916. In 1918 they moved to Canada, where they lived until 1925, when they returned to Blair. In 1935 Mr. Krogh entered the insurance business and has operated the Krogh Insurance Co. since that date. His son, Robert, has been affiliated with him in the business during recent years.

He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and active in church work. He was a Deacon in the Congregational Church the past several years. He was also a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge.

Pallbearers were Robert Shaw, Les Bucklin, Roy Creach, Loren Klopp, Dr. Keith Finn and Herb McCord.

The Campbell Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
