Hazel Wright, 88

Funeral services for Hazel Wright, 88, of Blair were held on Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, at First United Methodist Church in Blair. Mrs. Wright died on Oct. 12 at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair.

Hazel Mardell Wright was born Aug. 29, 1912, on the family farm west of Fort Calhoun to Allen and Rachel (McBride) McDonald.

She attended the Long Creek and Blair High Schools. On Sept. 14, 1929, she married Chauncey Wright. For 49 years, their home was on the farm south of Blair. In 1978, the couple moved to Blair.

Mrs. Wright worked for Crowell Memorial Home for five years, and Nebraska Clothing Store for 10 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church for more than 50 years, and belonged to the United Methodist Women’s Society for a number of years.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Geraldine and Willard Gilfry of Erie, Penn., Charlotte and John Heumann of Indianapolis, Ind., three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chauncey; a grandson, Timothy Gilfry; two sisters, Eva Wilcox and Fern Olson; six brothers, John, Glen, Harland, Andrew, Byron, and Allen McDonald.

Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church, Blair Memorial Community Hospital, or the Blair Rescue Squad.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
