Carl A. Olson, age 68, of Decatur, passed away on Saturday evening, May 9, 1987, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. He was born on May 7, 1919 at Macy, Nebraska to Floyd and Gladys (Hightree) Olson. He was united in marriage to Alice Gibson on June 24, 1938 at Dakota City, Nebraska. To this union were born five children. He married Helen Cochran Wright on June 27, 1967. She passed away on August 25, 1982. Carl served with the United States Army during 1945 and 1946. A Decatur resident for the past nine years, he loved the outdoors and fishing.

Survivors include two sons, Gary Olson of Macy and Tom Olson of Lyons; three daughters: Denise Thomsen of Murray, Nebraska, Sandra Hickstein of Waterloo, Nebraska, and Marcia Madsen of Decatur; two step-sons: Jim Wright of Omaha and Charles Wright of Seattle, Washington; one step-daughter, Vera Wright of Omaha; one sister, Alyce Cochran of Decatur and one brother, Dallas Olson of Wonache, Washington; eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen; and one daughter, Janet Marie Olson in 1944.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 1987, at the Word of Life Chapel in Decatur with Pastor Walter Greene. Interment will be in the Bancroft Cemetery. The Hamel & Peck Funeral Home in Tekamah is in charge of all arrangements, where friends may call after noon on Monday.
