Mrs. Lena Benck Rites Held Saturday

Funeral services were held Saturday for Mrs. Lena Benck, 84 years old, of Fort Calhoun, who died Wednesday, July 18th. The services were held at the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Donald Killin officiating, with interment in Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

Mrs. Benck is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Peter Schneider (Clara) of Blair; a son, George of Lincoln; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one, great-great grandchild.

Mrs. Benck was born May 15, 1878 in Hamburg, Germany. She came to the United States with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jochin Klassen, when 10 years of age, together with three brothers and a sister, all of whom preceded her in death.

On October 13, 1896 she married George Benck, Sr. Mr. G. Benck died March 17, 1919.

She has lived in Fort Calhoun or near Fort Calhoun since coming to this country. Grandsons served as pallbearers. They were: Myron Benck, George and Robert Schneider, George Buck, Gerald Storjohn and David Geary.

The Sievers Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
