Blair Woman, 65, Dies After Short Illness Of Only One Week

Mrs. Mabel Bailey Bendorf, 65, died at her home on west Park street Tuesday after an illness of one week. She was a long-time resident of Blair.

Born as Mabel Van Brocklin in Marysville, Missouri, October 8, 1868, she moved with her parents to Corning, Iowa, when a girl. In 1888 she was married in Blair to Jack Bailey and the couple lived near here, later moving into town.

To Mr. and Mrs. Bailey were born seven children, three of whom, Charles, Ralph and Clara, preceded their mother in death. Four sons survive. They are Guy and Ben Bailey of Blair, Walter of Gary, Indiana, and Frank of Eagle Butte, South Dakota. The deceased is also survived by three brothers, Walter Van Brocklin of Eagle Butte, S. D., Frank of Rockford, Illinois, and Mac of Walnut Creek, California; and by one sister, Mrs. Maud Murry, of Fontanelle, Iowa. Also left to mourn her departure is C. T. Bendorf of Blair, whom she married in 1925.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at two o’clock from the Bendorf Funeral Home with Rev. T. J. Reese in charge. Interment was in the Blair cemetery.
