Ruby F. Cain, 77, of Arlington, died Friday, Aug. 26, 2005, at the Fremont Area Medical Center. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31 at Salem Lutheran Church of Fontanelle. Interment will be in the Craig Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30 at Hamel-Peck-Pelan Funeral Home in Tekamah. Visitation will also be held at the church on Wednesday, one hour prior to services.

Ruby Fern Kunnemann was born April 23, 1928, in Blair to John and Margaret (Wrich) Kunnemann. She lived her childhood on a farm near Kennard. She attended Lecrone Grade School and graduated from Blair High School in 1945. She continued her education by earning her teaching certificate. Snyder and Oakland were two of the schools where she taught.

On June 25, 1954, she married Donald R. Cain of Tekamah. A few years after they were married they moved to a farm north of Arlington which has been their home ever since. Mrs. Cain quit teaching and started raising a family. She enjoyed being a mom and farm wife.

She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church of Fontanelle. She was active in the community by being a volunteer with the Red Cross for 20 years. She was also a leader of the Gals with Goals 4-H Club, a member of the Eastern Star, Johnson Jill’s Extension Club, Cottonwood Quilters, and a neighborhood quilting group called the Sew-What’s.

Survivors include husband Donald of Arlington; son: Robert Cain of Dakota City; two daughters: Lori Bute of Fremont and Patricia Eskilsen of rural Kennard; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sister-in-law: Mary Chamberlain of Herman.

Memorials are suggested to Salem Lutheran Church of Fontanelle and Red Cross Volunteers, Fremont Area Medical Center.
