Services were Thursday, March 7 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Elkhorn for Diane P. Bengston, 41 who died at Memorial Hospital of Dodge County in Fremont March 4, 1991. Rev. Larry Arganbright, Rev. Mark Fry and Rev. Wenda Fry officiated at the services. Burial was in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Elkhorn.

Diane Patricia Bengston was born June 26, 1949 in Omaha to Thorwald and Lilian Cousens Nelson. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John Episcopal Church in Omaha.

She grew up in Omaha and graduated from North High School in 1967.

She married Gunther Bengston May 30, 1970 at St. John Episcopal Church.

They lived in Omaha for the first eight years of their marriage. She worked as an executive secretary until their first son, Brent was born in 1972.

In 1978, they moved to Cedar Falls, Iowa where she began to paper and paint part-time for her husband, Gunther. They moved to Lincoln in 1982 and two years later they made their home on an acreage southeast of Arlington.

She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. She had just begun her Stephen Ministry training.

She was preceded in death by her father, Thorwald Nelson.

She is survived by her husband, Gunther; sons, Brent and Jamie of Arlington; her mother, Lilian Nelson of Omaha; three sisters, Sandra Kleine of Phoenix, Arizona, Phyllis Gember of Parker, Colorado and Deloris Sandberg of Denver, Colorado; one brother, Lee Nelson of Overland Park, Kansas and other relatives and many friends.

Pallbearers were Dennis Gilstad, Michael Lindsay, John Norton, M. James Rowe, Dennis Speck and Roger Wulf.

Mrs. Dean Saeger was organist.

Swanson Funeral Home in Elkhorn was in charge of arrangements.
