Bertha Cornelius Buried in Millard

Bertha A. Cornelius was born February 18, 1897 at Blair, Nebraska. She passed away March 2, 1966 at a hospital in Clarinda, Iowa.

She was married to Fred E. Benke, November 22, 1916 at Blair. They farmed a number of years in Washington County and Douglas County and later operated a business for ten years. They retired and moved to Braddyville, Iowa.

She is survived by her husband Fred; three daughters, Mrs. Irma Lambrecht of Omaha, Mrs. Fern Smith of Millard, Mrs. Phyllis Buesing of Valley and four sons, Roy of Burbank, California, earl of Braddyville, Iowa, Harold of Kirkland, Washington; Wallace of Blair. Also, four sisters: Mrs. Emma Peterson of Bennington, Mrs. Rosa Peterson of Omaha, Mrs. Catherina Labs of Blair, Mrs. Wilhelmina Schlapkohl of Graham, Washington and one brother, John Cornelius of Spokane, Washington.

Services were held at 2 P.M. Saturday, March 5, 1966 at the Crosby-Kunold Mortuary at Millard, with Pastor E. G. Ihrig of Millard officiating.

Pallbearers were Wilfred Smith, Arnold Buesing, Andrew Lambrecht, Carl Ploog, Andrew Thompson and John Rix.
