Constance M. Bennett, 63

Funeral services for Constance M. “Connie” Bennett were held Thursday August 12, 2004, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church. Interment was in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery. Mrs. Bennett died Aug. 8, 2004, in rural Blair.

Constance Mary Bennett was born June 25, 1941, in Dunlap, Iowa, to Hilton and Wanda (Klepper) Grady. She was in the Sisters of Humility Convent in Ottumwa, Iowa, for nine years.

On Nov. 21, 1969, she married William H. Bennett in Papillion.

She loved doing crafts, sewing, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her grandsons.

She was a member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair.

Mrs. Bennett is survived by her husband, William; son, Jack Bennett Omaha; daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Dale Knutter of Orrick, Mo.; two grandsons; brothers and sisters, Charles Grady of Omaha, Dan Grady and Sam Grady, both of Denver, Colo., Frank Grady of Broomfield, Colo., and William Grady of Tampa, Fla., and Betty Letofsky of Aurora, Colo. And JoAnn Lujan of Westminster, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Ft. Calhoun woman dies in accident

A 63-year-old Fort Calhoun woman was killed and her grandson injured in a one-vehicle accident on County Road P37 on Sunday Aug. 8.

Constance M. Bennett was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which happened at 9:51 a.m. on Sunday.

According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Bennett was northbound on County Road P37 when she lost control of her 1998 Ford Explorer. The vehicle went into the ditch, rolled and sheared off a power pole. Bennett was thrown from the vehicle.

Her grandson, Ernest W. Brenneis, 14, or Orrick, Mo., who was a passenger in the vehicle, was taken to Memorial Community Hospital by the Blair Rescue Squad and later was taken by LifeNet helicopter to University Hospital in Omaha.

He was expected to be released on Monday, the sheriff’s office said.
