James C. Bennett, 23, Buried Here Last Friday

Funeral services were held at the First United Methodist Church of Blair last Friday afternoon for James C. Bennett, a former Blair man who died February 4th at Memorial Hospital in New York City. He was 23 years of age.

The deceased was born at Blair December 29, 1951, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Bennett. He grew up in Blair, remaining here until 1969. At that time the family moved to Longmont, Colorado and in 1970 James graduated from the Longmont High School.

After graduation, he attended the University of Rochester, School of Engineering. He graduated from that school in May, 1974. At Rochester he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa honorary fraternity and Tau Beta Pi engineering honor fraternity.

While at the University of Rochester he worked closely with Dr. Waag, of the University, on the design of equipment to be used in ultra-sound heart disease detection.

After finishing his work at Rochester, Mr. Bennett went to work for International Business Machines at Poughkeepsie, New York.

He became ill a short time ago, his illness being diagnosed as a rare strain of cancer. Death came quickly last Tuesday.

Funeral services were held at First United Methodist Church in Blair, Friday, February 7th. Burial, under the direction of the Campbell Mortuary, was made in the Blair cemetery. Rev. John Northwall, of Blair, was in charge of the funeral service.

He is survived by his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Bennett, of Longmont, Colorado, and by his grandfather, Fred Jensen, of Blair.

There are two brothers, Edward Bennett, of Boston, and Tom, who is at home in Longmont. A sister, Tricia, also resides at home in Longmont.

James’ fiancé, Jean Sloan resides at Rochester.
